Board of Directors

Steven Angel is an Emmy-nominated composer and master percussionist who began performing at age six with the legendary Buddy Rich. He has recorded with Jimi Hendrix and Noel Redding, and has toured with Herman's Hermits and The Animals.


"Rhythm takes you to a magical place where profound connections are made."

As an adult, Steven has spent time recovering from the repercussions of a childhood spent in the spotlight. He reconnected to his passion, the drum, and now teaches others how to express themselves through the power of rhythm.
   
 His Drumming For Your Life workshops have been featured on NBC, CBS, CNN, the BBC, in The LA Times and The Daily News. Steven is currently listed in the Marquis “Who’s Who in America” and “Who’s Who in the World.” He has guided group drumming workshops at the Esalen Institute, City of Hope, Wellness Community, private & public schools, juvenile justice facilities, and numerous corporations - including Blue Cross and The Los Angeles Times.

Myra Angel, Ph.D

Myra Angel obtained a Ph.D in Clinical Psychology from Peabody College of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. She completed an internship at Children’s Hospital National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. and holds M.Ed. and Ed.S. degrees in School Psychology from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. Her undergraduate degree in Psychology is from Davidson College in Davidson, N.C. Dr. Angel has worked for various school systems in Virginia, Tennessee, and Maryland and has been in private practice in Vienna VA for 13 years. She is licensed by the state of Virginia as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and a Licensed School Psychologist.

Sherry Kahn, MPH

Sherry Kahn, MPH, is a health educator, journalist, and book author, who specializes in innovative and holistic therapies. She also has more than two decades of experience in marketing communications in both the nonprofit and corporate sectors. Sherry received her Master of Public Health degree from the University of Michigan and completed her undergraduate work at the University Of California, Berkeley. She is a former Reuters journalist, UCLA Medical Center principal editor and consultant to governmental agencies. Her book and magazine writing has focused on preventive medicine, nutrition, spirituality and alternative therapies.

Stephen V. Sedmak

Stephen V. Sedmak is a seasoned international business professional with over 25 years of experience in the high-tech, direct marketing, software and consulting industries. In 1993, Stephen founded SRS Labs, an audio technology and licensing company, and successfully led the company’s Intial Public Offering. Under his direction, the company achieved 98% gross margins, 51% bottom line and growth of the business to more than 250 licensees (including SONY, RCA, Pioneer, Sharp, Samung, Apple Computer and IBM). Stephen also led the company in opening new markets in the US, Asia and Europe.
   
On his 50th birthday, Stephen retired from his business career to pursue his interest in consulting. He is currently coaching numerous CEO’s through his partnership in Life Research Group.
   
Stephen lives in Laguna Beach with his wife of 30 years, Mary, and his two children, both attending college. He is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, where he earned a bachelors degree in Labor Management Relations.

Gavin Greenaway

Gavin Greenaway is an Emmy-award winning composer and conductor. He has been living in LA with his wife, sculptor Gilly Combe, and their two sons since 1996.
   
He studied piano and composition at Trinity College of Music in London from 1983-86, where he was awarded his Performers Licentiate Diploma and was winner of the Chopin Prize and John Halford Composition Prize. Gavin was awarded an Emmy in 2000 for his music for ABC Millennium Celebration (ABC 2000), he has written songs for movies (Shrek, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimmaron), co-written scores (Spy Kids), conducted scores for other composers (Gladiator, Thin Red Line) and composed music for TV and theater and art installations.


Rosina Ehrlich

Rosina Ehrlich is currently on the Governor of California’s Advisory Board for mental illness and education. She has a Master of Arts in Education/Public Administration from the California State University. From 1990-92 she was Principal of Puente Hills Alternative High School. She has been Director of Supportive Services/Adult Education at Haciende La Puente Unified School District in California. Recently she was Project Manager Business and Industry Programs at Santa Monica Community College District.

She’s been a recipient of the 1994 Women’s History Month and a recipient of the 1997 Outstanding Youth Program Awards.


Nancy Eichelberger

Nancy Eichelberger graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1978. She is an elementary teacher at Westminster Avenue Elementary School in Venice, CA. She has worked as an advertising agency copywriter and producer. She has written, produced and designed internet websites and interactive corporate training programs. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Save-A-Cat Adoptions.


Billie E. Thomas

Billie E. Thomas has worked with the Los Angeles Unified School District since 1970. She has a Master of Science in Counseling, Guidance, and Psychological Services from the California State University at Long Beach. Billie has been the Extended Learning Intervention Administrator (ELA) at Beyond the Bell. She has used testing data to setup extended learning intervention programs for low performing students, counsel students and interface with parents. Passionate about improving school achievement for our many underprivileged populations, Billie has established rigorous and creative programs to assist middle school students who need intensive intervention and has done extensive research on the effects of intervention programs on the achievement of low performing students. Billie has served the community as a teacher, mentor, school psychologist, special education teacher and administrator and is currently the Assistant Principal, ELA at Charles R. Drew Middle School in Los Angeles.
