READING & RHYTHM

The Reading and Rhythm program uses rhythm to increase fluency. Students use rhythm as a way to move through words. A stronger connection between the reader, story and teacher is created.

Program Goals

  • Increase reading fluency through the use of rhythm
  • Enable readers to focus more attention on content thereby improving comprehension
  • Use rhythm as a way to move through words
  • Increase self-esteem and self-confidence
  • Motivate and inspire students to read
  • Create a stronger connection between reader and story
  • Provide strategies that eliminate poor reading habits

Program Specifics

  • The school selects students for the program
  • DFYL Facilitator works with students twice a week, 60 minutes per session for 4 weeks (Elementary school), 5 weeks (Middle school), or 6 weeks (High school)
  • Students are tested for fluency and accuracy at the end of the program

Cost: $100 per session
