LIFE SKILLS DRUMMING TRAINING
Practitioners

The Life Skills Training program is designed for practitioners (people who are trained to work with at risk youth). The training includes experiencing different character value exercises such as Honesty, Independence and Trust, then learning the techniques necessary to implement them. No formal musical training is needed.

Training Specifics

  • Two days
  • Designed to take place over a weekend starting on Saturday and continuing through Sunday. (The training can also take place during the week)
  • Each person will receive an instructional DVD and a Certificate of Completion.

First Session – 5 hours
Objectives

  • Learning how drumming works with psychology to effect change in behavior
  • Learning about the relationship between the conscious and unconscious mind
  • Experiencing the eight Life Skill character values
  • Discussion of the affects of each character value
  • Learning to understand emotional energy produced through the drumming
  • Tracking your own emotional changes through your drumming changes

Second Session – 5 hours
Objectives

  • Each Facilitator leads the group by taking them through a character value
  • Learning to work your voice, with the drum
  • Learning how to interpret drumming responses and to hold the energy of the response
  • Learning to work with and interpret emotional responses produced through the drumming
  • Learning to hold the focus of the group while working with individuals
  • Learning how to get participants to talk about what they experience and to help them effect change within
  • Question and answer
